SRP October Bill Reminder: Review Your Rate Plan Before November

October 13, 2026 · Backup Ready Arizona

SRP’s temporary summer price reduction applies through the October 2026 billing cycle. As that period ends, take a few minutes to check your current electricity plan, household schedules and any home battery settings.

What SRP announced

On March 26, SRP approved a temporary overall 3% summer price decrease through its Fuel and Purchased Power Adjustment Mechanism. The announced period runs from the May through October 2026 billing cycles. SRP estimated average residential relief of $5.57 per month during that period; actual effects vary by usage and price plan.

This is a reminder about the end of an already announced temporary reduction, not a newly approved October rate increase. It does not mean every household’s November bill will rise 3%. Weather, usage, billing dates, seasonal prices and subsequent utility adjustments can all affect the bill. Confirm current pricing directly with SRP.

Your before-November bill checklist

  1. Find your exact plan name. Use your latest bill or SRP account. Your plan determines which timing and demand rules apply.

  2. Check billing dates and current rates. The announcement refers to billing cycles, not a universal October 31 cutoff for every account. Review SRP’s current rate book and any account notices.

  3. Review major household loads. Look at AC, pool pumps, EV charging, electric water heating and laundry schedules. Use your actual plan’s peak periods rather than an assumed schedule.

  4. Check automation settings. Make sure thermostat, appliance and charging schedules still fit your current plan and household needs.

  5. If you have a battery, ask about its operating schedule. Have your installer review rate settings, permitted charging, solar operation and outage reserve. Understand how using energy daily affects the capacity kept for backup.

  6. Compare more than the total bill. Check kWh usage, billing-day count and applicable demand charges to understand what changed.

Could a home battery help manage SRP costs?

Depending on the rate plan and system design, a battery may move grid purchases away from higher-cost periods or help manage demand. It also requires compatible equipment and proper design to supply selected loads during an outage. Savings and backup duration are different questions.

Before accepting a quote, ask for a home-specific estimate that accounts for equipment cost, charging costs and losses, utility rules, your usage and the reserve kept for outages. Consider simple schedule changes and efficiency improvements alongside storage.

Common SRP bill questions

Is this a new SRP rate increase?

No. This article describes the scheduled end of the temporary May–October 2026 reduction announced in March. Check SRP for any later pricing decisions.

Should every SRP customer use the same battery schedule?

No. SRP offers different residential and solar plans. Use the current rules for your exact account, and confirm settings with your installer.

Where should I start if I am considering a battery?

Gather your utility plan, twelve months of bills, existing solar information and the appliances you want to protect. Request a comparison based on your home rather than a generic savings percentage.
